General Training History Research Staff

Past Research

Past research in the CWC has had a similar fisheries focus as the training activity, reflecting the link between facility and the National Centre for Marine Conservation and Resource Sustainability at the Australian Maritime College. More recently though there has been a broadening of the research, illustrating additional capability and heightened involvement from the other AMC National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics, the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Tasmania and external partners (eg. Defence, Science and Technology Organisation) on collaborative projects. Past research can be grouped into the following categories;

  • hydrodynamic studies of sea-cage nets (Figure 1),
  • evaluation and development of fishing gears (Figure 2),
  • hydrodynamic studies of underwater and surface craft (Figure 3), and
  • hydrodynamic studies of other living and non-living items (Figure 4).
